DMG Heavy Industries Ltd (DHI) was established in 2023 as a joint venture between Dar es Salaam Merchant Group Limited (Tanzania) and Kookje Engineering Company Limited (South Korea). Together, we are transforming the maritime sector in East Africa. From new shipbuilding to complex rehabilitations, we bring international engineering standards to Tanzanian waters , serving government institutions, shipping corporations, and public authorities across the country.
What we do
We design and build new vessels entirely in Tanzania, from initial concept and naval architecture through to hull production, machinery installation, outfitting, and commissioning.
We restore vessels of all sizes to full operational capability, extending their service life and returning them to sea safely and on schedule. Our rehabilitation projects cover every system on board.
Our three shipyards are equipped for drydocking of vessels up to 120 metres in length. We provide scheduled maintenance, hull inspections, anti-fouling treatments, and system servicing to keep vessels seaworthy and compliant.
We supply and commission marine vessels, boats, and equipment on behalf of government and private clients, managing procurement, delivery, testing, and handover to operational readiness.
